It is mutually agreed that the following terms and conditions form an integral part of this contract and the no variation or modification shall be effective unless accepted by Wedding Stationery Direct in writing.
Wedding Stationery Direct is an online retailer offering personalised stationery for weddings and other special events through our online shop. We are based in Blackburn, Lancashire and we can be contacted by telephone on 01254 201498. We can also be contacted via email using the contact form on our website.
Wedding Stationery Direct is acting as an independent Contractor. Wedding Stationery Direct is not undertaking any artwork as any employee of the client, nor entering into a joint venture of partnership with the client. Wedding Stationery Direct reserves the right to seek advice or assistance when required.
Wedding Stationery Direct reserves the right to display any designs on their website and in promotional and marketing materials but we will not display any designs until after your wedding date.
The prices for our stationery include one printed insert for each Wedding Invitation, Evening Invitation and Menu. Order of Service can have up to 2 inserts, giving 8 pages of print which is enough to include hymn words. Inserts are printed in black on either white, ivory or cream paper to match the card. Coloured inserts and/or print are available at a small additional cost. We can also print your guests’ names should you require it, also at a small additional cost. Prices also include a white, ivory or cream coloured envelope where applicable.
All designs are handcrafted and made to order, so slight variations in colour and materials may occur from card to card and may differ slightly from the photographs on our website and any samples. Due to the delicate nature and manufacturing of handmade wedding invites card sizes and placements may vary slightly and these do not constitute grounds for complaint or replacement/refunds.
Please note that within laser cut invites small areas may appear slightly burnished or scorched. The above variations are part of the manufacturing process and do not constitute grounds for complaint or replacement/refunds.
Care should be taken when handling your cards and when inserting them into envelopes. You will receive your cards in perfect condition and we cannot be held responsible for any damage caused after you have signed for them.
Hand Finished Embellishments
The client accepts that due to the nature of any items that are finished by hand by Wedding Stationery Direct or by a supplier that each may differ in size, shape, finish, colour, texture and appearance.
Replacement & Substitution
We do not carry a stock of items. This is due to the fact that card & paper colours can vary from batch to batch and suppliers do sometimes withdraw items without prior notice to Wedding Stationery Direct. Wedding Stationery Direct accepts orders on the understanding that delivery is subject to availability. Should an item not be available, the customer will be informed and an alternative offered. If the alternative is not acceptable a refund will be offered. Any substitutes used will be of the same high quality as the original choice.
Our minimum order quantity is 20 for save the date; wedding invitations; evening invitations; order of service & place cards. Table numbers & menus are by negotiation if ordered separately. When ordering wedding invites, place cards, table numbers, table plans, etc. in one order, we will split your order so that all of your ‘on the day’ stationery can be personalised one month before your wedding day. As a result, this will incur an additional delivery charge if we are posting your order out.
We do advise early ordering as our lead times can fluctuate. Express orders may be available depending on our workload but may incur extra charges. This is at our discretion and is dependant on the size of your order and our current workload.
We recommend that you order all your wedding stationery at once, with an estimate for the number of Order of Service, Menu, Place Cards etc. This is to keep costs down, is more likely to ensure colour matching, ensure continuity of your design and enable us to book your production slots. Exact numbers for Order of Services and venue items can be clarified at a later date. We always advise ordering a few spares for any extra guests and clergy and for any errors if you are planning to write out your guests’ names on the invitations yourself.
Ordering Save the Day Cards
Save the Date cards are sent out any time in advance to pre-announce your occasion but please allow as much time as possible for your order, particularly during the lead up to the summer wedding season.
For orders containing only Save the Date cards, we request that 100% of the order value is paid in advance. A proof copy of your Save the Date card will be sent within 7 days of receipt of proof confirmation.
Our prices are subject to change without prior notice, but confirmed orders secured with a paid 50% deposit will not be affected. Quotes sent out for direct orders are valid for 28 (twenty-eight) days.
Confirmation of Order
Receipt of confirmation of your order is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not mean that all the items required are available. All stock is subject to availability from our suppliers and we reserve the right to cancel part or all of your order. You will be notified via email if any items are unavailable and we will discuss options with you.
Wedding Stationery Direct will provide a full set of text and layout proofs to illustrate the personalised wording for each item of stationery to be produced. These will be provided in a word or PDF document via email. Proofs are for the Client to check that all the information is correct and present, and as they would like it to appear. A standard of two (2) sets of changes can be made. Any alternations above this will be liable for extra costs. Whilst every care is taken in preparing these proofs, it is the client’s responsibility to thoroughly check all proofs carefully for errors in style, text, layout, grammar and spelling before emailing us in acceptance of their content. Any mistakes noticed after completion are not the responsibility of Wedding Stationery Direct. Any amendments will be charged at an hourly rate of £30.00 per hour.
All orders under £200 require full payment upfront. For orders over £200.00, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total order value is required upon booking. This will guarantee and secure the price you pay for items at the time of ordering. The remaining 50% balance will be payable on agreement of proofs and prior to the commencement of the production of the order. All payments must clear before any work commences. Any postage charges will be payable before we send your order out. No orders will be dispatched unless final payment has cleared. Invoices are payable upon receipt, Wedding Stationery Direct reserve the right to add a late payment fee of 1% per day. Invoice reminders carry a £5 administration fee. Wedding Stationery Direct will send 2 reminders of an overdue invoice before starting legal proceedings to recover the monies owed. Payment reminders will be sent out 30 days from the date on the first invoice.
Wedding Stationery Direct accepts payment by personal cheque, crossed postal order, bank transfer or PayPal. Payment details for your chosen method of payment will be given when you have placed your order. Please note that if you choose to pay via PayPal a charge of 3.4% will be added to the total cost of your order due to their charges.

If ordering less than ten (10) extra invites a surcharge of £15.00 will be added onto the total cost of the extra invites to cover time in producing these.
When making extra invites, we reserve the right to charge you for postage of any extra materials that may be needed to fulfil your extra invite order. You will be advised of any postage costs at the time of ordering extra invites.
Production Times & Deadlines
Due to the nature of handmade stationery, we require a lead time of 3 – 4 weeks from the cleared payment. Any timings given are for estimation purposes only unless the client sets a required deadline. Ideally Wedding Stationery Direct recommends you place an order at least 3-4 months before you intend to send out your invitations.
If a deadline is to be put in place the client must notify Wedding Stationery Direct of this before booking. Wedding Stationery Direct cannot be held responsible for any delays if deadlines are not mentioned in writing prior to booking.
Any delay in the completion of the design due to unforeseen illness, or events outside Wedding Stationery Direct control will mean the project may be delayed. You will be notified if this is the case.
If after 7 days of any work being sent to you, Wedding Stationery Direct does not receive a response or communication from you, Wedding Stationery Direct cannot be held responsible for any delays in the completion of the design.

Distance Selling Act
Under EU Distance Selling Directive regulations, personalised goods are an exception to the normal regulations regarding cancelling orders. As bespoke orders are all handmade especially for you, should you wish to cancel an order you must notify us, preferably by telephone or email, within 24 hours of placing the order. After that, we will do everything we can to cancel the order, but if the items are already made or being made then unfortunately we cannot refund you.
Your rights to return goods under the EU Distance Selling Directive can be found at http://www.hmso.gov.uk/si/si2000/20002334.htm
Any refunds or exchanges will be at our sole discretion and will only be made if the stationery is faulty or does not meet the specifications of the final proof excluding colour. If you feel that there are any discrepancies with your order these must be communicated to Wedding Stationery Direct within 24 hours of the goods being received by the customer. After 24 hours the goods will be deemed to have been accepted by you.
In the event that the error reported is an error by Wedding Stationery Direct (i.e. it differs from the wording supplied and approved by you) Wedding Stationery Direct shall replace the item(s) affected. In these circumstances you may be required to return the item(s), in original packaging, if requested to do so by Wedding Stationery Direct. Wedding Stationery Direct will bear the cost of this and replacement(s) shall be sent out as soon as possible.
If the fault is the responsibility of the client, we will try to be as fair as possible. We urge you to please check carefully and confirm that all details of spelling, dates, times etc. are accurate at the final proof stage before production begins.
IMPORTANT: Reprints or refunds will not be made if the goods contain errors but are as ordered by you. It is therefore vital that you ensure that information and guest names given to Wedding Stationery Direct are correct. Wedding Stationery Direct accepts no responsibility for checking your spellings and is not responsible for running a spell check on stationery wording.
If you are not entirely satisfied with individual cards you receive, they may be returned to Wedding Stationery Direct in an ‘as new’ condition (they must not be printed or written on). The safe return of cards is the responsibility of the customer and goods must be returned in their original (and re-sellable) condition.
Please Note: All our designs are handmade and each card is made individually, therefore it is normal to expect minor variations from card to card. However, this is always kept to an absolute minimum and does not constitute a fault.
Arranging a Return
Firstly, please use the ‘contact’ page or telephone us within 24 hours of receiving your order quoting your invoice number. Please include full details of the items you wish to return and the reason(s). If your return request is accepted, you will be emailed and given a Returns Reference Number. Package your items for return securely and send them with a copy of the original invoice, with the Returns Reference Number written on the invoice. We can not accept responsibility for the safe return of these goods, therefore, it is advisable that a proof of postage is obtained. Should the goods fail to reach us, this will aid in any claim you may wish to make with your chosen courier. If we have agreed to pay the return postage, please send the items back via 1st Class Recorded service and retain the proof of postage. Once we have checked the goods and have deemed them to be in a satisfactory condition, a refund will then be made via your chosen method of payment.
Any complaints should be raised by the client with WSD in writing within 28 days of first becoming aware of the matter to be complained of and in any event within 28 days of receipt of the artwork.
Responsibility and Storage of Stationery
Risk of damage to or loss of the goods shall pass to the client at the time of delivery or on the date of the first attempted delivery by the courier or Royal Mail.
You are responsible for performing a final check of names and details on stationery before items are used or sent out to guests.
Once stationery is received by you, it is your responsibility to ensure that it remains in good condition. Stationery should be stored flat where possible, and in any event must be stored in a dry environment at room temperature. If exposed to damp or very hot/cold conditions, stationery may become bent or damaged and this is not a fault of the product.
Postage of Individual Invites
Please note that it is your responsibility to check you have the correct postage when sending out your stationery to your guests. It is not the responsibility of Wedding Stationery Direct.
Some designs are bulky so will require a ‘large letter’ stamp or possibly a higher postage value, so we recommend checking with your post office prior to sending.
